Biters play the Star Bar tonight
It’s no surprise that Biters are continually compared to their predecessors the Heart Attacks and Poison Arrows. While they share influences and band members, Biters’ music is all their own. They are the band that likes it “loud and dumb,” and cites Cheap Trick, Bowie, and T. Rex among its influences, as well as ’70’s glam, the first wave of the punk movement, and good ’ole classic rock.
“Hang Around,” the first track on the record, automatically grips you with a punk rock anthem and lyrics like, “Another teenage daydream wasted/Another broken record playing on and on,” making your body want to erupt with convulsions. The intro to “Ain’t No Dreamer” brings to mind the Runaway’s “Wasted,” and is ripe with distortion and a catchy chorus. “Anymore” has an epic and full sound. The lyrics are well thought out and the song doesn’t disappoint.
With Prima Donnas, the Booze and Barreracudas. $8. 8 p.m. The Star Bar, 437 Moreland Ave. 404-681-9018.
