COLLEGE TOWN DOWNTOWN- “TAILGATE TO TOUCHDOWN!”

The Most Raging GA State Event of 2010!

ATLANTA, March 2010 – College Town Downtown is a “tailgating tradeshow” aimed at enticing all of the senses, an over-the-top block party featuring delectable barbecue, local exhibitors, live music, and games. The event being hosted by the Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality will be held April 8, 2010 in the Georgia State Student Recreation Center at 101 Piedmont Ave., Atlanta, Georgia, 30303. The festivities start at 11 A.M. and will run until about 1 P.M.

College Town Downtown is a one of a kind event that is free for all Georgia State students. It will feature rock bands, rappers, free food, prizes, giveaways, contests, and much more! Highlighting a car show of new truck and SUV models (essentials to a tailgate), this highly anticipated event is aimed at showing Georgia State students how to embrace “tailgating culture.” In addition to hot rides, companies who make custom school merchandise, car stereo systems, motorized coolers, and other cooking aids like will also be present.

While the event is still being planned, students have many zany games in the works. One game is aimed at raising awareness at serious issues like “texting-while-driving” in which students will ride tricycles through an obstacle course to see who can text the most phrases, proving that texting-while-driving isn’t such a good idea.

Students will be encouraged to embrace their school spirit as a slew of local artists paint their faces in “pimptastic” Georgia State colors and designs. College Town Downtown will be held in anticipation of Georgia State’s scrimmage game scheduled for April 10,2009. Georgia State’s first football game will be held this fall September 2, 2010 against Shorter College.
